TO:All 2018 SCTRA MembersRE: 2019 Annual General Meeting By-Laws, Rules and Regulations
Please note, the December roping will start an hour earlier (enter at 10:00 am, Rope at order to allow time for the AGM.fier (enter at 10:00 am, Rope at 11:00 am) inThe Annual General Meeting of the Southern Century Team Roping Association will be her 15th, 2018 in Cardston, during the break of the December roping.
By order of the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta, any Bylaws to be amended by a society, must be voted on by the membership at the A.G.M. Members must be notified 21 days prior the A.G.M. as to which Bylaws the Board of Directors suggests should be amended.
Therefore, please be advised the Board of Directors shall present the following Bylaws for amendment:
1. Article XIII, Rules, Section 1: Arena Team Roping Rules – S.C.T.R.A. will use and follow the teamroping rules established by the A.T.R.A. (Alberta Team Roping Association). Refer to a current official copy of the A.T.R.A. rules as these rules are accepted as the rules to be followed by the S.C.T.R.A.
a) To be Amended As: Arena Team Roping Rules – S.C.T.R.A. will use and follow the team ropingrules established by the World Series of Team Roping (W.S.T.R.), and as amended at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the S.C.T.R.A. The Rules of the S.C.T.R.A. shall not form part of the Bylaws
2. Article XIII, Rules, Section 11: All Contestants may enter two times and be drawn twice.
a) Suggested to be Amended As: All Contestant may enter two times and be drawn twice.There shall be an exception to this Rule in the case where a Member of the S.C.T.R.A. attends a roping and is unable to find a partner at the Roping. There shall be an ALTERNATE PARTNER POT, (A.P.P.) whereas the Member can draw ONE PICK PARTNER and ONE DRAW PARTNER from the Alternate Partner Pot. This shall be done manually using a system developed and approved by the Board of Directors. The system shall be designed so as the Partners chosen from the Alternate Partner Pot will be chosen on a rotational basis, to avoid the same people from being drawn more than once, until all ropers have had the opportunity to rope with anextra partner. Should any member wish to not participate in the Alternate Partner Pot, they must declare this position at the time of purchase of their Membership. Any roper without a partner must attempt to enter at any roping with all available ropers BEFORE they will be allowed to enter the Alternate Partner Pot. The Alternate PICK Partner must follow the 100 year age team rule. Points acquired by Alternate Partners shall count towards year end awards. However, there shall be no Alternate Partner Pot available at the Year End Finals roping.
b) OR Suggested to be amended as: The format to enter the roping shall be a straight-3-mandraw system
3. Article XV, Awards, Section 1: In order to qualify for awards, a roper must compete in 50% (fiftypercent) of the total ropings in that year.
a) Suggested to be amended as: In order to attend the Year End Finals Roping and qualify forYear End and Finals Awards, a member must compete in 50% of the total ropings in that year, with the Finals counting as one roping.

Additionally, we are notifying all members that wewould like to revise the bylaws to make themeasier to read.
The name Century comes from the fact that the combined age of the header and heeler must total a minimum of 100 years. In 1994 the name was changed to South Century Team Ropers Association when the association registered as a society under the Society Act of Alberta. The association puts on 12 ropings per year, with a specified attendance requirement to participate in the year end finals. The teams consist of a header and a heeler working together in a sportsmanship environment and ensuring safety for all individuals and animals. The SCTRA hosts ropings, every third Saturday of the month, at various Southern Alberta host committee locations. All members enjoy the comradery of the event and it is where family members can gather together. The SCTRA has a strong membership base, and there are many individuals that enjoy watching the event and enjoy the social atmosphere of like minded individuals. The South Century Team Roping Association encourages everyone to come watch the monthly team roping events or become a member and participate.
